High school players continue to move from school to school. There is an update on Lamont Jones, who is in search of a school, Daryus Quarles and Omari Lawrence are other Big East targets on the move as well.

There is also a look at four Chicago-area players to watch this month. Lance Stephenson’s father has a school in mind for his son. Could a Pitt-Memphis match-up come together for Madison Square Garden this December?

BIG EAST NEWS & NOTES (6/25/2008)

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

We will have a final report from the NBA Top 100 Camp early this afternoon, so check back for that. Look for more from the Hoop Group High School Showcase beginning tonight and a few recruiting interviews we are finishing over the next day or so as well. Lots of good stuff!!

Today, around the Big East, it has already been reported Syracuse will welcome a transfer. Unfortunately, at USF, it looks like one key recruit will not be attending this fall.

Some new recruiting names are on the board with Bak Bak out of California, Jacob Jenkins out of Kentucky as well as brief updates on Noel Johnson, Dan Jennings, Stephan Van Treese and Tobias Harris.

Pitt and West Virginia players will be playing with and against each other in a very competitive summer league that tips off tonight. Check it out if you are in the Pittsburgh area…it is free and open to the public.

Friday, June 20th, 2008

With all the action this past week, we have neglected our Daily News and Notes for a few days, well, it is back today and jam-packed with information from around the Big East.

West Virginia might be close to adding a late big man to their 2008 recruiting class. The Mountaineers are one of three Big East schools on the final four list of potential destinations for a very good transfer from Iowa State.

Notre Dame welcomes their new faces into the program while the Irish will prepare this summer for a trip to Ireland. ND, as well as WVU, announce the majority of their non-conference slates and there is a look at what promises to be the top 20 marquee non-conference match-ups for 2008-2009.

Recruiting updates can also be found on Aaric Murray, Kevin Parrom, Markus Kennedy, Donald Williams, David Brown, Aaron Crosby, Josh Sewell and ‘Mo Mo’ Jones. Rick Pitino gives a run down on his squad as summer approaches and the NABC wants to end the real early commitment trend before it gets even more ridiculous.

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

By Doug Ferguson

Some of the best basketball talent in the city of Chicago was on display the past two weekends.  Both the Illinois Team Satellite Camp and UIC Team Camp were held at The Moody Bible Institute’s Solheim Center and the UIC Physical Education Center respectively.  Chicago teams gave us the first glimpse of who has a leg up on the competition in the city for the upcoming season.

The Whitney Young Dolphins showed as expected that they will be the straw that stirs the drink in The Windy City this season.  They took home the title at both camps with outstanding guard play that should prove to rank near the top of the country this season.  Impressive performances were also turned in by Curie, St. Joseph’s, North Lawndale Prep, Foreman, Simeon, and a host of others.  Here are some of the individuals who have showed that they have a leg up on the competition in 2009.
