49) JEFF GREEN
49. Jeff Green: Georgetown - (2004-07) Hyattsville, MD
Three years: 13.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.1 apg
Co-Rookie of the Year (2005)
Player of the Year (2007)
His three year average of 13.1 ppg and 6.5 rpg doesn’t sound particularly impressive, but Green’s excellence was more than just numbers. With a perfect combination of skill, size, and brains, the 6’9” forward could pass, score, defend, rebound, and handle the ball as well as any big man in the game. The combination of Georgetown’s style and Green’s unselfishness hindered his career statistics, but when a play had to be made, it was usually Green who made it.
His excellence was not lost on the Big East coaches who named him the conference’s co-Rookie of the Year in 2005 and the Player of the Year in 2007. He earned his reputation as being cool, calm, and collective. Known for being one of the best clutch performers in league history, he also led the Hoyas to the Final Four in the 2007 season.
His career statistics include 1,339 points and 664 rebounds. Green left after his junior year and was the fifth overall choice in the NBA draft. In his first season for the Seattle Supersonics (now Oklahoma City Thunder), he was named to the All-Rookie Team.
